On June 12, ProPak Asia officially opened. As one of the most important packaging exhibitions in Southeast Asia, ProPak Asia attracts the attention of companies in many industries. The Chinese delegation attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition together with representatives from other countries. At the opening ceremony, the President of the World Packaging Organization, the Chairman of the Asian Packaging Federation, the representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the relevant leaders of the host country Thailand delivered opening speeches. After the grand opening ceremony, the Chinese delegation visited the exhibition under the organization of the conference organizer.

At this year's ProPak Asia International Packaging Exhibition, made in China has become a striking landscape. From materials to containers, to advanced packaging production equipment, filling equipment and even packaging performance testing equipment... It can be seen that Chinese manufacturing has improved significantly both in quantity and quality. During the visit, the Chinese delegation learned that Chinese enterprises actively respond to changes in international policies and standards through material and technology research and development, not only to meet the increasingly demanding supply chain needs, but also gradually to the industry leading position. In the follow-up activities, the Chinese delegation had a warm discussion with the representatives of the participating countries on the new developments of Chinese manufacturing that they learned about. Representatives of many countries expressed full affirmation of the development model of China's packaging materials and equipment.

Today, the world is in a century of great changes, the global packaging industry is also the same. The functional requirements of the industrial chain for packaging have gradually changed from basic protection functions to diversified functions including new needs such as consumer-friendly, green and low-carbon, and smart interconnection. The international policies, regulations and standard indicators of the packaging industry change rapidly, involve a wide range, and the industry has a deep impact. It is necessary to understand the packaging technology requirements and trends in various countries and regions in a timely manner and strengthen international cooperation among packaging organizations. From 13th to 15th, the Chinese delegation attended the meeting of the World Packaging Organization Sustainable Working Group, the 111th Council of the World Packaging Organization and the 9th Strategic meeting of the Asian Packaging Federation.

On June 15, the Chinese delegation was also invited to participate in the "2024 World Star Packaging Award" award ceremony together with the Chinese award-winning design team of the "World Star" Packaging Award. In addition to expressing congratulations, the delegation also had a full discussion with the award-winning designer on the development trend and functional, green and low-carbon development goals of packaging design. The winning designers unanimously agreed that packaging is an important part of building a green lifestyle, and packaging design groups should join forces to fully consider issues including packaging reduction, reuse, recycling and even biodegradation from the beginning of packaging design, and play the power of design to achieve China's "double carbon" strategic goals.

As part of the event series, a round table on sustainable Development and Food Conservation was organized, led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. The representatives of the participating countries made speeches and exchanged views on the national practical experience, main challenges and opportunities in the field of sustainable packaging and food conservation. The Chinese delegation introduced China's fruitful experience in the "CD-ROM Action" and the restriction of excessive packaging of commodities, introduced the challenges faced in the establishment of a recycling system for packaging waste, especially low-value packaging waste, and expressed the hope to learn more about the experience of countries in the construction of packaging circular economy systems under different geographical conditions. Representatives of many countries, including Turkey, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, expressed their recognition of the remarks made by the Chinese representative. Delegates at the meeting expressed unanimous support for the establishment of a set of smooth communication mechanism.

The packaging industry through the industrial chain upstream and downstream, both involving the front-end material process, but also involving the back-end recycling treatment, its sustainable development has a long way to go. On the one hand, China's packaging industry faces the challenges of complex and diverse environment and unbalanced and inadequate industry development, on the other hand, it also has the major advantages of complete industrial chain. The Institute will continue to maintain international communication in the field of sustainability and timely introduce the experience methods of different countries into the country. At the same time, it also actively promotes China's plan to enhance China's international status in the field of sustainable packaging development.
